Background information about the possible transmission of toxoplasmosis to pregnant women though contact with droppings from an infected cat. (Toxoplasmosis can cause miscarriage or birth defects.) The site also provides recommendations that will help pregnant cat owners "reduce their risk of contracting toxoplasmosis." Suggestions include having a friend clean the litter box, or wearing gloves when cleaning the box. From the Humane Society of the United States.
