Includes links to usability studies, suggested best practices, and a list of related resources, some paper-based and some on the Web. From John Kupersmith, a librarian at the University of California, Berkeley. http://www.jkup.net/terms.html Topics: Librarianship, Social Science, Web Design and Management Last updated Dec 18, 2002 Linking Policies for Public Web Sites A fascinating and vital article for librarians creating Web sites that link to others. Starting with problems the Clearwater Public Library (Florida) had with another Web site creator, this author, a librarian and Web manager, describes the importance of having a linking policy, gives several resources on policy creation, and describes several current controversies over linking. She cautions that "in our notoriously litigious society ... you need to have more than a passing familiarity with this stuff." http://www.llrx.com/features/internetwaves.htm Topics: Internet, Law, Law by Subject, Librarianship, Web Design and Management Last updated Feb 6, 2001 UW Library Usability Information from the University of Washington (UW) Libraries about how it conducts usability testing for library websites.
