These data are collected at approximately 4,000 continuous traffic counting locations nationwide and are used to estimate the percent change in traffic for the current month compared with the same month in the previous year." TVT archive goes back to 1992; additional vehicle-miles of travel (VMT) data back to 1970. Measures include the amount of time an average driver spends stuck in traffic, the difference in travel time between trips made during peak vs. off-peak hours, and the economic cost of congestion due to lost productivity and wasted fuel.
