Brief bios of surfing pioneers Duke Kahanamoku, who is credited with popularizing surfing in the 1920s (in Collections ), and Corky Carroll, first professional surfer (in Legends ), as well as interesting tidbits on surf music, films, and artifacts. The museum is located in Huntington Beach. This site contains lots of cool images and photos on surf history.

Official site for this California surfing competition held "on just 24 hours' notice -- between January 1, and March 31 ... [when] 24 of the world's greatest big-wave surfers will descend upon the frigid waters of Half Moon Bay for the chance to ride 'the most dangerous waves in the world.'" Features include the Mavericks' history, the science behind the big waves, photos and videos, contestant biographies, and instructions for receiving event alerts.

This nonprofit environmental organization is working to preserve oceans, waves, and beaches in the United States. The site features the "State of the Beach" report with information about state beach access (public access and private ownership issues), water quality, beach erosion, surfing, links, and more.
