AILLA is a searchable and browsable "archive of recordings and texts in and about the indigenous languages of Latin America." Features "recordings of naturally-occurring discourse in a wide range of genres, including narratives, ceremonies, oratory, conversations, and songs. Includes "information on compensating artists while making P2P legal." Most sounds are quite short (from approximately two to six seconds long). Robert Vincent Voice Library, part of the Digital and Multimedia Center of the Michigan State University (MSU) Libraries, is the largest academic voice library in the nation, with a collection of "utterances" (speeches, lectures, interviews, etc.) by more than 50,000 people, recorded over the last 100 years. This is the site of an NPR documentary about the golden age of Yiddish radio (1930-1950), which depicted the daily life of Eastern European Jewish immigrants in their new homeland. The dramas, political commentary, advice shows, talent shows, and music provided entertainment and comfort. The site has photos of radio personalities, sound clips, a documentary, and an explanation of the work of Henry Sapoznik, who found and restored the disks with the programs.
