The Moon Festival is celebrated annually in Asian communities around the world (in mid-to-late September, on Western calendars). Based on the Chinese lunar calendar, this event is sometimes referred to as the Autumn Festival or Harvest Moon Festival. For the past 40 years, the Washington State Autumn Leaf Association "has presented the Autumn Leaf Festival in Leavenworth, which is situated on the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains."
