A map displays the routes. Provides links, by state, to a history of each of the surviving historic places along the route, with photos and location, often including hours and phone number if open to visitors. It includes photographs of the exhibits, with detailed information on each one; a brief history of the railroad in America; short biographical information on Leland Stanford, Charles Crocker, Mark Hopkins, Collis Huntington, and Theodore Judah; and the driving of the gold spike at Promontory Summit in Utah.
