Teenie Harris' "40-year career with the Pittsburgh Courier, one of the largest and most influential Black newspapers in the country, began as the nation emerged from the Depression and ended with the Civil Rights Movement. Numbering upwards of 80,000 images [over 45,000 shown here], this archive represents the largest single collection of photographic images of any Black community in the United States -- or the world, for that matter." This site documents a public art project in "the five counties of the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor in Eastern Pennsylvania. ... [Over] 150 life-sized, fiberglass mules, decorated by renowned and emerging local artists, as well as schools and nonprofits" were displayed in this area. The site has photographs of each mule and maps of where they were placed; mules were chosen to symbolize the region's coal mining history.

Topics include medical labs, alumni, nurses in practice, hospital scenes, and photos of hospitals, buildings, and everyday life specific to Philadelphia. Images include photographs, architectural drawings, postcards, and color art. A combined project of Thomas Jefferson University (one of the oldest medical schools in the U.S.) and the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.

Valley of the Shadow: Two Communities in the American Civil War view detail comment email this

"The Valley Project details life in two American communities, one Northern and one Southern, from the time of John Brown's Raid through the era of Reconstruction." Contains photographs, maps, "thousands of original letters and diaries, newspapers and speeches, [and] census and church records, left by men and women in Augusta County, Virginia, and Franklin County, Pennsylvania."
