Operation Migration (OM) view detail comment email this

Orphaned and captive birds do not know how to migrate. Flying light airplanes, OM pilots act "as surrogate parents, helping the birds imprint on the aircraft and conditioning them to fly with it. Later, when the birds are mature, they are led south by the OM team on a pre-determined route to a safe wintering site." Includes photo and field journals and video clips of their work with Canada geese, Sandhill cranes, and whooping cranes.
