Women in the Shadows: Lesbian Pulp Fiction Collection view detail comment email this

This site chronicles some of the classic lesbian pulp fiction contained in the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture at Duke University. These paperbacks were popular in the 1950s and early 1960s. The site provides historical backgrounds, plot summaries, cover art, and additional reading lists. One technical inaccuracy: the movie "Desert Hearts" was based on a novel by noted author Jane Rule, not on a pulp.
