This nonprofit organization acts as a "cyber-neighborhood watch." The site gives tips on dealing with cyberstalkers and online harassment as well as hackers and viruses. Volunteers work with law enforcement to locate online criminals such as child pornographers and stalkers. Also features "Internet 101" (information about common programs and applications) and a parents' guide. The group does not advocate censorship of adult use of the Internet. Final Report of the COPA Commission view detail comment email this

The Commission, appointed by Congress, was mandated by the Child Online Protection Act, approved by Congress in October 1998. The primary purpose of the Commission was to "identify technological or other methods that will help reduce access by minors to material that is harmful to minors on the Internet." The report was released to Congress on October 20, 2000. The original and amended texts of the act are in the Appendix of the report.

Supreme Court Decision in Reno v ACLU view detail comment email this
