 This nonprofit organization was founded "as an educational organization for Muslims about Halal food products in supermarkets, [and] to provide the service for Halal certification of food products." The site lists which foods and ingredients are Halal (approved), Harem (forbidden), or Mushbooh (suspect) under Islamic dietary laws and describes general criteria for making this determination. Muslims who want to dine out need restaurants that serve food that conforms to the Islamic dietary codes (zabihah). This site is a guide to such restaurants in the United States, the UK, France, and Canada. Searchable reviews, starting in 1999, submitted by Muslims contain the name, address, telephone number, a brief review, and price range.
