Websites presented in alphabetical order Center for an Accessible Society: Disabilities Information for Journalists This site is "designed to focus public attention on disability and independent living issues by disseminating information developed through research to promote independent living." It provides accurate background information, discussions, articles, and relevant explanations of demographics, education, employment, healthcare, housing, media, public policy, technology, transportation, and design. In addition to descriptions of the institute's projects, this website contains event listings, statistical resources, and publications in areas such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), community inclusion, disability benefits, and workforce development. Also includes teacher resources and information about differentiated instruction. Also includes a calendar of relevant symposiums and other events. The agency promotes "policies, programs, practices and procedures that guarantee equal opportunity for all individuals with disabilities" and that empower their integration into all aspects of society. The site includes a FAQ, news, and links to relevant federal agencies and state and federal resources for disabled people. Collectively, the P&A/CAP network is the largest provider of legally based advocacy services to people with disabilities in the United States," and is "the largest non-governmental enforcer of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)." Here it provides chat rooms, a message board, an archive of its newsletters, and membership information.
