Forest ecology Wind River Canopy Crane Research Facility 
 Details about the activities of this "cooperative scientific and educational venture among the University of Washington College of Forest Resources, the USFS Pacific Northwest Research Station, and the Gifford Pinchot National Forest." Of particular interest is a diagram and explanation of the workings of the crane, which includes a gondola to transport researchers to the tree canopy.
