Starting with problems the Clearwater Public Library (Florida) had with another Web site creator, this author, a librarian and Web manager, describes the importance of having a linking policy, gives several resources on policy creation, and describes several current controversies over linking. She cautions that "in our notoriously litigious society ... you need to have more than a passing familiarity with this stuff."
