This site commemorates the life of Esther Pariseau, who joined the Sisters of Providence in Quebec in 1843. As Mother Joseph of the Sacred Heart, she and four companions traveled to the Washington Territory where, for 46 years, she "established, designed and built institutions of education, health care and social service" in the Pacific Northwest.
