LII search results
are ranked by relevance, which our search engine, SWISH-E,
determines by counting the frequency with which the match terms (terms
used in your search) appear in the LII item records. We display twenty
items on a page and no more than 500 items in a result set.
Search results for
each item display the website title,
the LII description,
the website URL,
the LII Topic,
and the date
LII last
updated the item.
The following match terms are
highlighted with bolding: item description,
title,
URL,
and LII Topic.
Match terms
that match against other fields, such as Publisher or Site Author, are
not highlighted.
Each item also has three icons:
1. A magnifying glass (View More Info).
This provides more information about the item (see discussion
below).
2. A talk balloon (Comment),
which
allows you to respond to us about the item.
3. An envelope (Email Item),
so you can email the item to anyone
(including yourself). The message includes the item's title,
description,
URL,
and LII
Item ID (a URL used to
reference the LII
item).
View More Info
repeats
the item title,
description,
URL,
and LII
Topics, and also provides
information about all other publicly-displayed
fields for the LII item.

Publisher:
The publisher
of the website
Site Author:
The author
responsible for the website (not the author of the material described
by the website. Shakespeare is not a Site Author).
Extra
Keywords: Keywords added to
the LII item by LII staff
to make it easier to search for the item.
Library of Congress
Subject Headings: Controlled
vocabulary assigned to LII items to ensure compatibility with global
library standards.
Dublin Core Material Type:
Controlled vocabulary assigned to a subset of LII items created and
maintained for the California Digital Library.
LII Database Information
describes who created the LII item, when it was created and last
updated, when LII published it, and who paid for it (the funding
agency).
LII Database Information also provides an LII Item ID,
which is a URL you can use to link directly to the item or share the
item with
other users.
Items can also be
emailed or commented on from the icons in the upper right corner of
View
More Info. The Print
icon presents the LII entry in a neatly
formatted print-ready view.
