Assateague Island National Seashore
Located in Virginia and Maryland, this seashore is home to more than 300 wild horses, as well as many birds and other wildlife. This site has information about wildlife in the area, including a photo gallery and a list of migratory birds. Also has details about the Chincoteague Wild Pony Swim (held annually in late July), which was made famous by Marguerite Henry's 1947 book, "Misty of Chincoteague."
