Storm Warning: Advancements in Marine Communications and Forecasting
This presentation, created in 2000 on the 25th anniversary of the sinking of the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald, looks at developments in marine communications and forecasting since that disaster on Lake Superior. Some of the topics include forecast and warning definitions, numerical weather prediction, advances in scientific understanding, and radars and satellites.
