Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS): SkyServer
Data from a "project to make a map of a large part of the universe." The project is "a 5-year survey of the Northern sky (10,000 square degrees) to about 1/2 arcsecond resolution using a modern ground-based telescope [SDSS]. It will characterize about 200M objects in 5 optical bands, and will measure the spectra of a million objects." The site has science projects and links to other education sites, information on astronomy, a FAQ, and a glossary.
