Teaching With Documents: Migration North to Alaska
This site presents "photographs, letters, drawings, and acts [that] highlight some of the economic, social, and political factors that prompted thousands to migrate" to Alaska. Topics include the Alaska Purchase Treaty (which resulted in the transfer of the territory of Alaska from Russia to the United States), the Alaska Gold Rush, and migration and settlement in the state. Also includes forms for document and photo analysis. From the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
